Vlad Gutierrez
BC-HIS, CDP
Vlad Gutierrez, BC‑HIS, is a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist with a background in sound engineering and more than two decades of experience in hearing care. Originally from Venezuela, he studied audio engineering in Caracas and completed advanced sound technology training in Barcelona, where he also worked for a hearing aid manufacturer and developed expertise in hearing technology production and service.
After moving to Portland, Vlad trained locally, earned his Oregon license, and co‑founded Mt. Hood Hearing in 2004. He is Nationally Board Certified through the International Hearing Society, Tinnitus Care Provider Certified, and a Certified Dementia Practitioner. He also serves as President of the Oregon Hearing Society and sits on Oregon’s Advisory Council on Hearing Aids.
Vlad trains directly with Dr. Keith Darrow, Ph.D.—a neuroscientist, clinical audiologist, Certified Dementia Practitioner, medical researcher, and author who earned his doctorate through the joint Harvard Medical School / MIT program in Speech and Hearing Bioscience and Technology. Together, Dr. Darrow and Vlad design the customized auditory‑brain–focused hearing care plans used at Mt. Hood Hearing.
